YourGuru is a service for children, managed exclusively by adults. Only individuals aged 18 or over may create a parent account. We do not allow children to create their own accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without verifiable parental consent.
1. Who we are
YourGuru is a product of Aarush Innovations (we, us, our), registered in India. We provide a personalised tutoring service for children, accessible via our web application and mobile applications. YourGuru is designed primarily for students in India following CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, and IB curricula.

2. India DPDP Act compliance
We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India. As an Indian company serving primarily Indian users, the DPDP Act is our primary data protection framework. We process personal data only for purposes for which consent has been obtained or where otherwise permitted by applicable law.

2.2 Consent
We obtain consent before collecting personal data where required. You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal, and may limit or disable parts of the Service.
2.3 Grievance Officer
Our Grievance Officer can be reached at support@yourguru.app. We aim to acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days.
3. Children's privacy
YourGuru is built for children and treats children's privacy as a core product requirement. We apply protections required under India's DPDP Act for processing data of minors, along with strong child-privacy safeguards such as parent-owned accounts, parental consent, data minimisation, and no behavioural advertising.
3.1 Who may use YourGuru
- Only adults aged 18 or over may register as a parent or guardian and create an account.
- Children may use YourGuru only through a child profile created and controlled by their parent or guardian.
- Children may not independently register, create accounts, or provide personal information to us directly.
3.2 Parental consent
Before creating a child profile, we obtain consent from the parent or guardian. This consent covers collection and use of child profile data, learning activity, session data, recordings where applicable, and safety signals for delivering and improving the tutoring service.
3.3 What we collect about children
- Name as entered by the parent
- Grade, board, subjects, and language preference
- Session and lesson activity data
- Questions asked during sessions
- Progress, performance, pacing, replay, and focus data
- Safety and moderation signals
3.4 Parental rights
Parents and guardians may review, correct, delete, or withdraw consent for their child's information through Parent Mode or by contacting support@yourguru.app.
4. Information we collect about parents
4.1 Account information
- Name and email address used for authentication and communication
- Authentication identifiers and account status
- Accepted legal versions and consent records
- Subscription, coupon, plan, and billing status
- Parent PIN state, never the PIN in plain text
4.2 Recordings
To build the personalised tutor experience, we may ask you to record an approved loved-one video inside the app. This may include audio, video, image frames, transcripts, generated media, and processing artifacts.
4.3 Usage and support data
We collect session logs, feature usage, error reports, device/browser information, support communications, and operational metadata to provide, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, app state, security, analytics where enabled, and service reliability. You can manage browser cookies through your browser settings. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
6. How we use your information
We do not sell personal data. We do not use child data for third-party advertising.

7. AI and product improvement
Learning interactions, recordings, generated content, moderation signals, feedback, and derived educational data may be used to evaluate and improve YourGuru's proprietary teaching technology and AI systems. We use this data to improve safety, curriculum alignment, explanation quality, language support, and personalisation.
8. Safety and moderation
We may process text, audio, images, video, and metadata to detect unsafe content, abuse, grooming risk, self-harm risk, sexual content, violence, illegal activity, privacy risks, and other policy violations. Parents may be notified of safety events where appropriate.
9. Data sharing and service providers
We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service. Providers may support authentication, database hosting, storage, email delivery, payments, AI processing, moderation, analytics, crash reporting, infrastructure, and support. Providers are used only as needed and are not permitted to sell child data or use it for third-party advertising.
10. Payments
Payment providers may process billing details, transaction identifiers, plan information, taxes, refunds, and fraud checks. YourGuru does not store full card numbers.
11. Data retention
- Active accounts: data is retained while your account is active to provide learning history, replays, safety controls, and personalisation.
- Grade changes: prior-grade content may become inaccessible in the app while retained for product operation and improvement until account deletion.
- Deletion requests: account data, child data, recordings, generated media, learning history, and archives are deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except limited retained records.
- Support and audit records: limited records may be retained for legal, security, billing, tax, fraud prevention, audit, or dispute purposes.
12. Data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data from Parent Mode or by contacting support@yourguru.app. Deletion disables access and is completed within 30 days of a verified request, except where limited retention is required for legal, financial, security, audit, fraud prevention, or dispute purposes.
13. Security
We protect personal data using authentication controls, Parent PIN protection, access-controlled media URLs, encryption in transit, provider security controls, audit logging, moderation controls, and least-access practices. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Data storage and transfers
YourGuru is an Indian product. Where supported by our cloud services, product data, media, and application infrastructure are configured for India-region resources, including Mumbai. Some provider-managed services, such as authentication, email delivery, payments, security, or AI processing, may process limited data in other locations under provider safeguards and applicable law.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, law, providers, or safety requirements change. We will notify you of material changes by email or prominent in-app notice where required. Material changes may require parent re-acceptance.
